Kohama Island is about 25 minutes away from Ishigaki Island by regular boat.

This island is characterized by beautiful sea, sugar cane fields, and a laid-back atmosphere, and is also called “Tembusu of Yaeyama”.

It is famous for being the setting of NHK’s drama series “Churasan.

Kohama Island is also known as a diving spot and is crowded with divers. There are also a number of large resort facilities where many tourists enjoy a tropical atmosphere.

There are also many sightseeing spots, such as the Otake Observatory, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view, and Hosozaki Beach, which overlooks the Yonara Channel where manta rays migrate.

Cycling on “Sugar Road,” a single road through sugarcane fields that was used as a filming location for a TV drama, is also popular.

The island also has beautiful mangroves and a monument to the classic folk song “Kohama-bushi.

Fly from Naha to Ishigaki Island, then take a high-speed boat or ferry.
