Irabu Island

A world-class marine activity spot where you can enjoy the charm of the sea to the fullest

Located northwest of Miyako Island, Irabu Island is now accessible by car from Miyako Island via the Irabu Bridge, Japan’s longest bridge, which opened in 2015 and is toll-free.

This bridge is 3,540 meters long and has a unique shape with a mountainous center section, making it ideal for driving.

Irabu Island has many tourist attractions, including the beautiful beaches of Wataguchi no Hama and Sawada no Hama, and is connected to the neighboring Shimoji Island by many bridges, making it possible to tour around the island as if it were a single island.

Shimojishima Island has the only airport in Japan used by pilots of private companies for training, and you can watch the repeated touch-and-go takeoffs and landings.

Both islands are known worldwide for diving and other marine activities.

Why not enjoy marine fun to the fullest on these remote islands?
