Cape Zanpa

A cape with a 2-km-long 30-meter-high cliff and a white lighthouse

Located at the westernmost tip of Okinawa’s main island, Cape Zanpa is famous as the last place where the sun sets.

This cape has a 2-km stretch of natural 30-meter-high cliffs, at the tip of which stands a large white lighthouse.

The surrounding area is popular for rock fishing and diving, and the symbolic lighthouse offers spectacular views.

In addition, a statue of the Ryukyu Dynasty “God of Commerce” named Taiki was built, and several sacred places of worship are scattered throughout the area.

At Cape Zanpa Ikoi no Hiroba, visitors can touch goats, turtles, and other small animals, and play leisurely on the expansive lawn.

There are also tennis and basketball courts for sports and ball games.

Don’t miss Okinawa’s largest Shi-sa, which stands 7 meters tall and is the largest in Okinawa. The powerful figure, which stands 7 meters tall, is a must-see.

The beautiful ocean can also be enjoyed at Zanba Beach in front of the cape.

From Naha Airport, take Route 332 to Route 58 and go straight north.
Turn left at the Kina intersection in Yomitan Village, go straight on Prefectural Route 12, turn right at the Takashiho intersection, and go along Prefectural Route 6.
Turn left at the Zanba Iriguchi intersection and follow the road to Cape Zanba at the end of the road.

By Car or Rental Car
From Naha Airport, take Route 332 to Route 58 and drive straight north.
Turn left at the Yomitan Village Kina intersection, go straight on Prefectural Route 12, turn right at the Takashiho intersection, and go along Prefectural Route 6.
Turn left at the Zanba Iriguchi intersection and follow the road to Cape Zanba at the end of the road.
Take the Okinawa Expressway from the Naha IC, get off at the Okinawa Minami IC, and drive about 50 minutes on the national highway.

By bus
From Naha Bus Terminal, take No. 28 and get off at Cape Zanbamisaki Koen bus stop.
