The Ocean Expo Park, located in the northwestern part of Okinawa’s main island, is home to the Churaumi Aquarium, and beyond that is the Bise district.
In this district, there is a village organized in a grid pattern, with about 250 houses mostly surrounded by fukugi residential forests.
Some of the fukugi trees in Bise are very old, estimated to be 300 years old.
Perfect for strolling, “Fukugi Namiki in Bise” creates a unique atmosphere with its paths blocked from sunlight by approximately 20,000 large Fukugi trees.
Visitors can soak up the soft sunlight while watching the leaves of the trees sway.
Visitors can also enjoy sightseeing by buffalo cart or rented bicycle.
Beyond the rows of fukugi trees lies the beautiful ocean of Bisezaki, a natural beach with coral reefs.
Fukugi trees have long been used as windbreaks in Okinawa.
This scenery evokes the good old Okinawan residential landscape and invites travelers to enjoy the scenery.
Let’s take a walk to the Fukugi trees, following the way-marked posts.
Walking along the healing path covered with fukugi trees, you can also enjoy leisurely sightseeing while swaying on an ox cart.
Then, relax after a hard day’s work on the beach at sunset.
