Yanbaru is located in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island and is home to many forests and mountains. Deep in the Yanbaru lies the largest waterfall on the main island of Okinawa, Hichi-Otaki Falls.
The entrance to the walking trail and campground is located approximately 4 km from the entrance to Kunigami Village. Take a break at a café where you can hear the murmuring of the river, and then walk for about 40 minutes through the subtropical jungle to the Great Falls.
The well-maintained boardwalk has steep steps, but there are no steep mountain paths. You can also walk leisurely while inhaling negative ions.
At the halfway point, a 50-meter-long, 17-meter-high suspension bridge spans the Hichi River.
The jungle and the abundant water of the Great Falls are home to a variety of living creatures, including plants unique to the subtropical zone.
Beyond the natural wonders, the 25.7-meter-high Great Fall awaits.
